Description
In a move that echoes HOBBY LOBBY, Local Gordon College wrote a letter to President Obama requesting exemption from anti-discriminatory laws due to religious beliefs, which are frankly, in violation of local city ordinances. Salem mayor Kim Driscoll pulled all ties of support from Gordon, as well as terminating the college's management of Salem's Old Town Hall. While there's been general public support, there HAS been backlash in the form of several phone calls from right-wing groups. Mayor Driscoll soon published a letter to a local LGBT rights organization pledging a $5.00 donation for each nasty phone call they get. The Oppression Olympics! Even Christians will play the Persecution Card when they don't get their way.
Also violators of city ordinances don't deserve special treatment. The mayor was right to do what he did. Gordon Collage was trying to sneak past the local laws and now they are paying the price.
